Laser Tattoo Removal
The Q-switch ND:Yag laser is used at our clinic to remove unwanted
tattoos. Complete removal of a tattoo or significant fading of the tattoo
colour can be achieved. A cover up tattoo or reworking faded tattoo can
also be considered.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The laser light is selectively absorbed by the ink particles, shattering
them into smaller particles. These shattered particles can them be
collected by your immune cells and removed harmlessly away through the lymph system in theskin.
WILL ALL COLOURS DISAPPEAR?
Black is the most responsive colour to laser, then dark blue, green and
red ink fade easily. Aqua, orange and purple respond well, but yellow and
white inks are the most difficult and may require extra treatment to give
significant fading.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
The number of treatments depends on yours skin's response to the laser,
the type of ink used and the depth of the ink in the skin. A simple
homemade black tattoo may only require 1-2 treatments to remove, whereas a
multicoloured professional tattoo may need 6-12 treatments.
